2025-recap
One week into 2026 and it feels good to have landed in being home! 2025 was a year of travel, both for work and for personal reasons. Work trips aside, personal trips had two strong themes FOOD and MUSIC.
Because you could probably say that my husband and I are real foodies. Food enthusiasts. And music enthusiasts. When it comes to music, I am an omnivore anyway.
In May it was London, a city we love and love to return to. However, it took 23 years between the first and second time. Imagine how much time we missed getting to know this city! Now there have been more times since then. We chose to stay at a really special hotel, the Landmark which is located in Marylebone. We like to try staying at different hotels and the previous time we had chosen one very close to Piccadilly Circus so this time it was nice to try something completely different.
Unlike last time when we mostly chose chain restaurants with good burgers and such, we now wanted to explore more of London's food offerings. A permanent favorite is Hide. But we had other food experiences at the Londoner and our hotel. All the restaurants were of course good, but what stood out was the food at the hotel. Beef Wellington and mille-feuille cake. Someone mentioned that the chef had just come from the Ritz.
I also like movies and am particularly weak at finding locations that appear in movies and TV series. The goal this time was Primrose Hill, a viewpoint that you have seen a little here and there. In today's social media era, you can say that we were not the only ones who found it. From Primrose Hill we then went through Regents Park/Royal Park/Queens Park. Because as nature lovers you can't help but find those green areas in the end. Because it can be incredibly beautiful in its own way, even if it can't compare to a mountain landscape….
In July it was Karlstad, we travel there a few times a year as my parents live there. They live near Klarälven/Norsälven where I usually take a walk every time. It really is just around the corner.
Luleå! In July I met up with good friends from the past. Second year in a row! Here I chose, in addition to going to look at the harbor and enjoying the sun, to ask the others if we could try a new restaurant. We tried CG in 2024, this time it was Bistro Bar and Brygga. Unfortunately, the trip ended with me getting a fever so it was an abrupt return trip.
In July I worked most of the time, but the weekends were spent in Abisko. It was a month of great weather! I think the pictures will speak for themselves there. In August you could imagine that I would be in Kiruna and watch the church move. Unfortunately, we had already booked a trip to Stockholm to go and listen to Ed Sheeran, so we had to follow the move on TV.
In Stockholm we tried new and old restaurants, the destination this time was Aira. Tommy Myllimäki's sought-after restaurant. In summary, you can say that it was not only good food, it is an experience in itself to be there. Did I mention that we stayed at the Grand Hotel? We would love to stay there again if we can afford it.
September was the time for the traditional Tjejmilen, I have lost count of how many times I have done that race but I think it is approaching ten. It is the same group that goes there and it will not just be a race, it will be a girls' weekend with shopping and also good food. I finished this time too!
As an active member of the local board of Företagarna, there was also a trip to Sollentuna for a course for elected board members of the local associations. If it had not been for the fact that I had a back injury of some kind, it might have been possible to look around the area more. I brought a lot of useful inspiration back with me to the board.
In November - December there were then a few quick trips to Karlstad to bring my parents back home to us! Work and fun! But then there was quiet time at home to regain strength for 2026!
