Sola i Karlstad – who was she?
Sola was actually a waitress named Eva Lisa Holtz. She was very well-liked and always had a cheerful and vibrant personality, which earned her the nickname “Sola” (“the Sunshine”). Since 1985, a statue of her has stood outside Elite Stadshotellet, and it has become an important symbol of Karlstad. The statue was created by the artist Herman Reijers.
